“God is Good to ME!!!”  Shout it from the top of your lungs and don’t hold back!  Let the whole world know what an awesome God you serve and all the goodness He has poured into your life and your heart!  This is the essence of what Jesus said in the referenced scriptures:

Mark 5:19, Luke 8:39

If You Are Grateful, Tell Others!

Jesus said we are to be grateful and thank God (see earlier post:  Jesus Said Be Grateful & Thankful to God). As part of being thankful to God, tell others what God has done for YOU!  In Mark 5:19, Jesus said, “Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how He has had mercy on you”. This is after Jesus healed a demon-possessed man. (The entire story is found in Mark 5:1-20, and again in Luke 8:26-39).  In this story, Jesus said that, instead of keeping quiet about the healing, return home and ”…tell how much God has done for you”  (Luke 8:39).

A heart that is grateful is overflowing and cannot be silent.  It yearns to share with others, to convey the gratefulness and thankfulness within.  Jesus said to tell others.  We may not have been healed by Jesus from demons, but He has healed all of His disciples of sin and slavery to sin.  As such, these stories also show us that witnessing and sharing the Gospel are acts of gratitude to God, as we ”tell them how much the Lord has done for you (us) and how He has had mercy on you (us)”.

Does this sound a little like boasting?  Yes indeed, boasting about God’s goodness and greatness!!

Sharing with Family

Do not be surprised if your family is skeptical about your testimony or stories about what God has done in your life.  Even Jesus’ testimony about who He was and His mission was initially rejected by his own family (Mark 3:21).  His own neighbors and townspeople were prejudiced against Him and did not view him as someone who had anything important to say (Matthew 13:53-58).  We are not responsible for how others respond to our message.  We are only called to carry the message to others.  What they do with it (or don’t do with it) is between them and God.

Call to Action

Challenge yourself to tell someone ”…how much God has done for you”.  Give this some thought and prayer before doing so.  The story you share should be focused and personal, something specific that God has done for you that truly stirs your heart, your gratitude, and your sense of His perfect goodness.

If you cannot think of anything, you are not looking hard enough!  Pray faithfully for God to open your eyes to see His glory.  His glory is all around us, and plain to see (Romans 1:19-20).  His glory is His goodness!  How do I know?  Because when Moses asked God to show His glory, that is how God described Himself! (read Exodus 33:18-20).
